Samsung is said
to be addressing a market segment that is often ignored in this
fast-paced, fast-evolving technology world. Majority of gadgets we hear about today are, within reason, mostly
targeted at adults, teens, and, more recently, toddlers. But as today’s
high-end smartphone users grow older, manufacturers will need to address
an upcoming new market segment made up of the elderly, as well as those
with disabilities, for whom the traditional feature phone won’t be
enough. According to an unnamed Samsung official, the company has
recognized this need and will be starting with a slightly modified
version of its Galaxy Core budget smartphone.

In terms of hardware, the Galaxy Core Advance is believed to retain
the specs of its original namesake. The only external difference is that
the power and volume buttons are supposedly still visible in low light
situations, though there isn’t any information on how Samsung will
implement that. The smartphone will also have an extra coating that will
protect it from scratches that might occur when being handled by people
with less defined motor skills. On the software side, there will also
be a new feature that will read out loud text that is captured by the
smartphone’s camera.
